Hi friends! Thanks for joining me for another round of Quilt Block Mania. This month our theme is "Floral". I was immediately reminded of the magic of Mother Nature in the springtime. I am always so amazed at the perfect timing of springtime bulbs in bloom. It's as though Mother Nature is leaving a memo that, even in the dark cold winter, she is hard at work making a lovely spring!
I am going to step through the cutting and sewing process here. At the end of my instructions you will find a printable document with a coloring page and the foundation papers you will need to make the flowers.
Let's begin.
Labeled diagram of the block:
CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS
From your background fabric, cut the following:
A: 5: x 3.5"
B: 3.5" x 1.5"
C: 5" x 3"
D: 9.5" x 2"
E: 10" x 2"
F: 6.5" x 1 7/8" (cut 2)
G: 8.5" x 1 7/8" (cut 2)
H: 7" x 1 7/8" (cut 2)
From the stem fabric, cut the following:
I: 6.5" x 3/4"
J: 8.5" x 3/4"
K: 7" x 3/4"
The flower units are pieced using Foundation Paper Piecing. I prefer to measure out the pieces I need in advance of sewing the blocks together. I will share those measurements here with one caveat: I am generous with my fabric calculations! I don't like the feeling of piecing a seam only to come up short around the edges of the paper. If you are using beloved fabric (or have more patience than me) then you may wish to measure for yourself and cut your pieces smaller!
For the Daffodil:
A1 (yellow) 2.5" x 2"
A2, A5 (orange) 1.25" x 3"
A3, A6 (background) 1" x 3"
A4, A7 (orange) 2.75" x 1.75"
A8 (background) 3.75" x 2.5"
For the Tulip:
A1 (yellow) 1.76" x 1.75"
A2, A3 (background) 2" x 2"
A4 (red) 3" x 2"

Thank you for the pattern, unfortunately I don't have the qr reader and can't access the instructions besides your blog post. Not all people have access to the "new ways", is there any chance you could continue putting the instructions with the patterns for us older quilters who don't have the new way. Thank you, I do appreciate all you do for us.
